Sannes, Susan H.

Susan H. Sannes
March 29, 1947 – April 4, 2012

Susan H. Sannes, wife of David Sannes entered into rest on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Wilson Medical Center.  Memorial services will be held Monday April 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 301 Circle Drive in Rocky Mount, Father George Greer officiating.  Interment will be on Cape Cod, MA at a later date.

“Suzi” was born on March 29, 1947 in Worcester, MA.  She grew up as a 13th generation Hinckley in the town of Cummaquid, MA.  She served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam era and was active in the Marine Corps League Tri-County Detachment 1262 of Rocky Mount, NC.  Suzi raised three children in Amherst Junction, WI while managing a small farming operation and family interstate trucking company.  In Wisconsin, Suzi was very active in her children’s lives and the community, serving as a troop leader in the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts; attending sporting and 4H events.  She served with the Amherst Area First Responders, where she was best known as “Mom”.  Suzi served on the Vestry for Church of the Intercession in Stevens Point, WI and for St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Rocky Mount, NC.  After moving to North Carolina in 1996, Suzi enjoyed gardening and her grandchildren.  Whether it be farm chores, babysitting, medical support for the high school sporting events, or helping friends in need, Suzi gave all of herself with compassion and joy.  She did not know a stranger and made everyone she cared for a part of the Sannes Family.

Survivors include her daughters, Lisa Graff of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and Lori Sannes of Raleigh, NC; her son Bryan Sannes of Sims, NC; five grandchildren; her sister, Janis Gutchigian of New Jersey; and her brother John David Hinckley of Florida.

The family will receive friends at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church following her memorial service.  Family and friends are also welcome to stop by the Sannes residence from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2012.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marine Corps League Tri-County Det# 1262, PO Box 456, Red Oak, NC  27868.

Arrangements are by Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson, NC.

There are no words that can adequately convey my condolences at the loss of your wife, mother & grandmother. Suzi always held a special place in my heart. She was one heck of a great den leader for our Cub Scout Pack! We were blessed when she (and Lori) became active members of our first responder group. Her beaming smile, her accent and the fact that she was never too busy to lend a helping hand. These are the wonderful qualities that I remember most about Suzi. Memories that I will cherish forever.

I will continue to keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

Lori,
Thank you for the information re: the death of your Mom. My parents (Leona & Milton) and her parents, your grandparents (Betty & John) were long time friends and shared so many great memories together. Suzi had a special place in their hearts and they were always so proud of her and all her accomplishments . I am so very sorry to know that she no longer graces this world. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Peace.

Words are not enough to say how we feel for your lost. I lost my mom, years ago and there's a hole that never will be filled. But remember the good times, and that you have many friends and family to help you through.

Dear Lori, LIsa,Bryan and David, I grew up with Suzi on the Cape. Our families were close and I remember well the clambakes and holiday parties we all attended, then the highschool sleepovers, sports and dances. Apparently Suzi just became even more kind, loving and dear. Clearly, she'll always beremembered for her giving and unselfish life. Sooo sorry for this huge loss in your lives. Know that the hole will eventually be filled with loving memories. Thoughts, prayers and love.Cindy Parmenter

To the Loving Family of Suzi Sannes,

Suzi was such a ray of sunshine..... that is how I will always remember her. We went to school together, lost touch, then reconnected. It was an honor to have her in my life and call her my friend. God Bless you all with his love.
