Joseph Elton Mooring
April 9, 1934 – May 16, 2012

Joseph Elton Mooring, 78, of Wilson passed away on Wednesday.  Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.  The Rev. Gary Strickland will officiate.

The family will receive friends Saturday prior to service at 1 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at 4026 Townes Court, Wilson.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Joyce Grice Mooring; two daughters, Marcia Mooring White and husband, James Edgar White, III of Wilson and Lynn Mooring Johnson and husband, Sherrod Johnson of Clayton; three granddaughters, Elizabeth J. Rush and husband, Corey, Sarah J. Kozik and husband, Daniel and Mary Slade Mooring Duke; two grandsons, Brandon Johnson and wife, Casey and Barrett Johnson and wife, Nelia; two sisters, Helen M. Newcomb and husband, David of Portsmoth, VA, and Judy Gray Craddock and husband, Calvin of Winston Salem; brother, David E. Mooring and wife, Christine of Elizabeth City; several nieces and nephews and his special K-9 friends, BamBam and Piglet.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Mooring and Alean Minshew Mooring.
