Needham Ollie Bunn Jr.
October 17, 1931 – June 30, 2012

Needham Ollie Bunn Jr., 80, of Elm City, passed away on Saturday.  Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. The Rev. Allen Langley will officiate.  Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery with  Rev. Dr. S. Moore officiating.  

The family will receive friends 6 -8 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway.

Ollie was a native of Wilson, where he was a barber for fifty years. He began his business on S Goldsboro Street where he worked with his father before he opened his own shop, Ollie’s Barber & Styling Service.  He was a 1949 graduate of Charles L. Coon High School and 1954 graduate of the Durham Institute of Barbering.  Ollie served three and half years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.  He was a member and past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6651, a member of American Legion Post 13, and a member and a past officer of the Loyal Order of the Moose. Ollie was a faithful servant of the Lord and a member at Christ Independent Baptist Church of Elm City.

Mr. Bunn is survived by his wife, Louise H. Dixon Bunn of the home; niece, Susan Aliff of Lakeland, FL and Robert Ray Bunn of Wilson, who was more of a brother than a cousin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Needham Ollie Bunn, Sr. and Marie Stokes Bunn.

Mr. Ollie was a good man and loved by many. He will be missed but we know he is in a better place with no more pain and suffering. I know Phillip will miss coming home to see him and they have their little talks. We love you Ms. Louise and we are a phone call away. Love Angie and Phillip.

Ollie you were a good friend. I am sorry but you & I have played a lot of dances in our lifetime. We both loved music. I know you are in a better place where there are no sickness or pain. God will look after you now.
