Oliver Wendell Dowell
January 18, 1937 – October 3, 2011

Oliver Wendell Dowell, 74, of Sims died Monday.  Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at New Sandy Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church.  The Rev. Paul Nicholson will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Mr. Dowell is survived by a son, Jeffrey Dowell and wife, Angie of Hollywood, Md.; three grandchildren, Jeffrey and Alyssa Dowell and Ashley Woodburn; a sister, Mary Catterton of Lothian, Md.; a brother, James Dowell of Owings, Md., and his beloved companion of six years, Virginia Ward of Sims.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to New Sandy Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church, 8021 New Sandy Hill Church Road, Bailey, NC 27807. 

Arrangements are by Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
