Charles L. Cobb July 18, 1938 – February 15, 2018 Charles “Charlie” L. Cobb, 79, of Wilson passed away Thursday evening. His funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Chaplin Sharon Eldridge will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday prior to the service from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the residence. Charlie worked in the mold shop for many years for Foster Forbes Glass. He was a member and Past Master of the Bailey Masonic Lodge 411. Charlie enjoyed country music and formerly played violin in the band The Tumbling Tumbleweeds. He was a man of many trades, including stump grinding, mechanic and a carpenter. He was always willing to help and could fix almost anything. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a good friend to all who knew him. Charlie was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Charlie is survived by his wife, Joan Garrison Cobb of the home; his daughters, Debbie Cobb Chappell and husband, Alan of Durham, and Marci Cobb Ellis and husband, Jeffrey and their two children, Lyndsay and Nicholas of Holly Springs; son, David Charles Cobb and wife, Penny of Bailey, and their three children, Tabitha, Trevor, and Tiffany four great-grandchildren, Tanner, Kolton, Layla, and Tate; his sister, Sandra Cobb Blackburn of New Jersey; brothers, Melvin F. Cobb, Jr. of New Jersey, and Wilfred “Billy” Cobb and wife, Kay of Florida; his mother-in-law, Ellen Davies Garrison of New Jersey and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Frank and Mildred Shaw Cobb, and his sister, Barbara Cobb Burton. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials in Charlie’s honor to the Masonic Home for Children, 600 College Street, Oxford, North Carolina 27565 or to the hospice of one’s choice.
