George Charles Finklea, Sr. September 1, 1926 – November 18, 2016 George Charles “Bud” Finklea, Sr., 90, of Wilson passed away Friday. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Bud was a graduate of Clemson A&M in 1946 with a degree in Pre-Med and in 1948 he received a degree in Entomology. He was a lifetime supporter of Clemson Athletics and a member of the IPTAY. Bud was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Farmville for more than fifty years. He was head of distribution and supply for the eastern United States with Royster Chemical Company, he retired after twenty-four years. Bud is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Margaret Helen Chapman Finklea of the home; his daughter, Kathryn Earlene Finklea Sauls and husband, Roland Dixon Sauls of Farmville; his sons, George Charles Chuck” Finklea, Jr. and wife, Cynthia of Wilson, and John Picket Finklea of Raleigh, and his granddaughters, Lindsay Chapman Sauls Lennon and husband, Chip of Holden Beach, Robyn King Sauls Barnhill and husband, Rob of New Bern, Walker Nichols Finklea of Raleigh, and Hadlea Elizabeth Finklea of Raleigh. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Jesse Walker Finklea and Henrietta Josephine Finklea and his sisters, Jesse May, Carolyn Elizabeth, Dorothy Jean and Helen.
