Alan "Mohawk" Waitman Jones

Alan “Mohawk’ Waitman Jones, 73, of Wilson passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2026. A Memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Rev. Johnny Taylor will officiate.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4 – 4:45 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

Alan was excellent bass guitar player and loved home cooking. He was a die-hard NC State Fan. Alan was the world’s greatest father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him.

Alan is survived by his daughter, Kathy Jernigan and Brandon Griffin; numerous grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his special friend, Duke Starling and several other close friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 6 years, Patricia Jones; grandsons, M.J. Jones and Cordell Jones; granddaughter, Amber Ferrell, and his parents, J.C. and Margeret Jones.
