Alice Joyner Godwin April 28, 1932 – August 10, 2021 Alice Joyner Godwin, 89, of Wilson passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021. The family will receive friends Friday, August 13, 2021, from 10 – 11 a.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson, followed by a graveside service at 11:30 in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Rev. Brian Tippett and Rev. Carl Bradshaw will officiate. Alice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her Lord. You could often walk into her den and find her and her husband reading their Bible. She and her husband raised their four children in a loving Christian home. Alice was a faithful member of Peace Church for fifty-eight years. She loved to cook for her family and was best known for her banana pudding. Alice loved to play cards with her family, especially her sisters, Jean, and Shirley. Alice is survived by her sons, Buddy Godwin and wife, Lisa of Cedar Point, Mike Godwin and wife, Ruth of Wilson; daughters, Debbie Bradshaw and husband, Carlton of Wilson, and Brenda Godwin and husband, Ken Eatmon of Bath; her “special daughter”, Amy Stokes of Community Home Care and Hospice who loved her and took wonderful care of her for the last two years; granddaughters, Carrie Godwin Boykin of Wilson, Anna Godwin and husband, Brian Burleson of Apex, and Maggie Godwin of Boone; grandsons, Carl Bradshaw and wife Kelly of Wilson, Derek Bradshaw of Greensboro, and Matthew Johnson and wife, Brythe of Raleigh; great-grandsons, Ashton Bradshaw, Alex Bradshaw, and Wyatt Boykin all of Wilson, and Anderson Bradshaw and Liam Bradshaw of Greensboro; great-granddaughters, Autumn Bradshaw, and Virginia Bradley Boykin both of Wilson, and her sisters, Shirley Barnes of Elm City, and Lois Reif and husband, Ronnie of Chicago, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen David Godwin. The family extends their most sincere thanks to all the staff of Parkwood Village BTR Unit and Community Home Care and Hospice who lovingly took care of our mom.
