A service will be held Friday November 21, 2025, at 11am at the First Presbyterian Church of Wilson, NC, Reverend Nick Demuynck will officiate. A reception to greet the family will follow in the Church Parlor.

She was preceded in her death by her mother, Edna Turner Whaley and her father Richard S. Whaley.

She is also survived by her sister, Sandra Turner Whaley of Kinston, sister Kathy Bucky Whaley of Greenville, and brother Richard S. Whaley II of Kinston.

Annette was born in Kinston and was the eldest of four children. She lived in rural Lenior county and was an active member for the Armenia Christian Church. She attended and graduated from Campbell Junior college and earned a teaching degree at Atlantic Christian College. She taught in the Wilson County School System for thirty years until her retirement in 1998. She was adored by her students, many whom she kept up with into their adult lives.

Annette was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church Wilson. She volunteered in the church office and served on various committees. She also volunteered at Greenfield school. She loved watching her children participate in athletics and often worked in the concession stand at events.

Annette was a loving mother and grandparent, known for her thoughtfulness and kindness to everyone who knew her. She was always quick with a one-liner and a smile. She was a selfless person, who always put others first and touched the lives of all who knew her.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed the beach, Phantom of the Opera music, and her daily soap operas. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

The family would like to recognize with great gratitude the nurses with Gentiva Hospice and especially her private nurse, Lisa Mooring. Their compassion and grace in the care of our mother will not be forgotten.
