Barbara "Bobbie" Crotts Deans

Barbara “Bobbie” Crotts Deans of Wilson passed away on July 15, 2026. She was born on February 19, 1945, in Maryland and grew up in Thomasville, North Carolina. Bobbie was the daughter of the late Lassie and Charles Crotts. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of more than forty-three years, John F. Deans.

Bobbie cherished her family and grandchildren dearly and she made many wonderful memories with them. She also loved spending time with her bridge groups and many dear friends at Pup’s Steakhouse.

She was an avid reader, loved music, especially Christmas music, any kind of sports, and the UNC Tarheels playing football, basketball and her favorite, UNC baseball.

Surviving are her two daughters, Joanna Mudge and husband, Tripp, of Morehead City; Annie O'Brien and husband, Anthony, of New Bern; and son, John Deans, and wife, Stephanie, of Morehead City. She was also a doting grandmother to Anna Charles Mudge, Addyson O'Brien, John Wyatt O'Brien, and Brooke Deans. Bobbie is also survived by her sister, Sharon Russell, and husband Buddy.

The family would like to thank Michelle Bridgers for all of her kind, loving care.

A celebration of life service will be at 11a.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2026, in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church, 311 Nash Street W, Wilson. The Rev. Dr. Chris Thomas will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery immediately after the service. Family will receive friends, following the services, at the home.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial can be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 1467, Wilson, North Carolina 27894 and Free Will Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 249, Middlesex, North Carolina.
