Barbara Ann Mercer, of Wilson passed away Tuesday. Her funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday July 2, 2026, at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. Ken Cobb will officiate.

The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 10 – 11:15 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Barbara was a lifelong member of Forest Hills Baptist Church. She had a genuine love for God and her church family and that love was returned to her by all who knew her. She never met a stranger and always put others before herself. Her family was her lifeline and she loved them dearly, especially her sister Judy. Barbara had a terrific sense of humor, a sense of adventure and was adamant about her independence. She was always grateful for every kindness shown to her. She loved fiercely and unconditionally. She will be missed.

Barbara is survived by her nephews, Robert Collins Mallard and wife, Laura of Jupiter, Florida and Brian Mallard and wife, Lindsay of Rotonda West, Florida; great-nieces, Anabel Mallard, Grace Ann Mallard and Elizabeth Mallard and great-nephew, Jonathan Mallard.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee Mercer, Jr., Annie Belle Lamm and her sister, Judy Mercer Mallard. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be directed to Forest Hill Baptist Church, 1407 Forest Hills Road, Wilson, North Carolina 27896.
