Bennie Jay Eatmon

Bennie Jay Eatmon, age 70, of Rocky Mount passed away Sunday, May 24, 2026, at WakeMed. Born in Wilson County, he was the son of the late Eatchel J. Eatmon and Margaret Price Eatmon.

While we grieve his loss deeply, we also celebrate the life of a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, loyal friend and faithful son of God. He lived a life defined by hard work, quiet wisdom and unwavering devotion to family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Tonia Proctor Eatmon of Rocky Mount; daughter, Emma Leigh Boswell (Brandon); his sister, Brenda Eatmon Dorsett; his brother, Bexley Eatmon (Annette); two stepsons, Thomas Alan Cone and Christpher Cone. Eight grandchildren, Emma Ray, August Ray, Jackson Cone, Benjamin Cone, Bailey Cone, Ella Claire Boswell, Landon Boswell and Hudson Boswell; two sisters-in-law, Lisa Morris (Keith) and Susan Burrus (Ricky) and a special uncle, Bob Price (Betty Jean).

He graduated from Rock Ridge High School and attended East Carolina University and transferred to Barton College so he could be closer to home to help on the family farm. Bennie’s life has been related to farming in some capacity and he could talk about farming for hours.

The family will receive friends at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, West, Wilson, on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 6 – 8 p.m.

A graveside service will be held at Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, 9300 Johnson Farm Road, Kenly on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 11 a.m.

Condolences directed to Joyner’s Funeral Home and Crematory at www.joyners.net.
