Billy Ray Oakey, Sr.

Billy Ray Oakey, Sr., 76 of Elm City passed away May 7, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2026, at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. Ronnie Williams will officiate.

The family will receive friends Monday evening following the service till 9 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

Billy is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Betty Oakey; daughter, Amanda Summerlin of Elm City; son, Billy R. Oakey, Jr. and wife, Barbara of Elm City; granddaughters, Allison Oakey Green and Skylar Summerlin; grandsons, Braxton Oakey and C.J. Summerlin; great-grandchildren, Kalie, B.C., Maggie, Emmy, Whitley, and Benton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Maggie Oakey and several sisters and brothers.
