Billy Ray Tripp

Bill Tripp, 74, of Stantonsburg, NC passed away peacefully at home.  He is now an additional guardian angel watching over our family.

Bill was one of a kind, devoting and loving husband, father, and Papa.  He proudly served in the United States Navy Seabees and was a true Vietnam hero.  Bill was a member of the Wilson Moose Lodge #989, Moose Legion #69, and The American Legion.  His passion was fishing, tending to his garden, cutting grass and spending time at the beach with family.

Bill is survived by his wife, Sharon, of 17 years, who he loved more than life; daughters, Toni Smith (Daniel), Kim Dunn and Carrie Barberio; sisters, Paulette Hobson (Phil) and Lila Lewis (George); brother, James Michael Tripp; brother-in-law, Ralph Stein; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Tripp and Janie Davis; brother, Carroll Tripp; sister, Margaret Stein; and son-in-law, Richard “Rich” Scarberry.

The family would like to give a special thanks for all the love, care and support of the V.A. Hospital in Durham, NC and the Gentiva Hospice of Wilson.

A visitation will be held Sunday, March 5 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Joyner’s Funeral Home in Wilson and at other times at the home of Sharon Tripp.  All family and friends are welcome.
