Braxton Hill March 5, 1933 – August 6, 2020 Braxton Hill, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning August 6, 2020. He was born in Johnston County to Tonie and Ludie Edwards Hill. Mr. Hill gave his heart to the Lord in 1953 before marrying the love of his life, P Jay Narron Hill in October 1953. He and his wife were married for 55 wonderful years, until her death in 2009. Mr. Hill served the Lord faithfully in many different ways at Moore’s Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church, most notably as a beloved Sunday School teacher of the Junior Boys class. Once he and his family moved to Wilson in 1967, they attended First Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served in nearly every leadership capacity during his 53 years of membership. He was passionate about mentoring boys and young men and started the Boys Club and Men’s Ministry at his church. Braxton served in the US Army from 1954 – 1956 with honor and pride. Mr. Hill also worked at Watson Electrical Construction Company from 1961 – 1991, retiring as the Executive Vice President. After retirement, he and his wife traveled extensively and eventually spent most of their time at their home at Lake Gaston where they loved fishing and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Mr. Hill is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Danny Collins, grandson, Jordan, and his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Karen Hill, and granddaughter, Anna. He is also survived by brothers, Phillip Ray Hill and wife Sue, and Billy Wayne Hill, and one sister, Jeri Lewis. A private family graveside service will take place at New Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Church on Saturday, August 8 at 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Hill, one that can be open to the public, will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mr. Hill’s name to the First Pentecostal Holiness Church Royal Rangers and/or Men’s Ministries, 2001 Ruann Drive, Wilson, North Carolina 27893. I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord. Matthew 25:21 Condolences directed to Joyner’s Funeral Home and Crematory at www.joyners.net.
