Carolyn Grace Bennett Barnette

Carolyn Grace Bennett Barnette, 85 of Wilson passed away Saturday.  A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday evening, June 13, 2023, with the family receiving friends prior to service from 5 – 5:45 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.  Rev. Adrain Arnett will officiate.

Carolyn was born on December 12, 1937, in Reidville, South Carolina to the late Robert G. and Grace Blythe Bennett.  She graduated from Spartanburg High School in South Carolina and attended Nursing School in Wilson from 1956 – 1957.  Carolyn is remembered for her “smile”, positive personality, sense of humor and love. A huge part of her life was spent spoiling her pets and she made sure no animal went hungry.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Whitley and her late husband, James, and Nancy Davis and husband, Ray; sons, Steve Barnette and wife, Kim, and Jay Barnette and wife, Xiaodi; grandchildren, Paul Brown, Jason Whitley, Jennafer Carlisle, Jerry Wisdom, and Cheng Yang Chu, and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Lee Barnett; son, Michael Barnette; her parents, Robert and Grace Bennett, and her brother, Robert Jerrold Bennett.
