Carolyn Davis Bunn

Carolyn Faye Davis Bunn was a loving, compassionate, and faithful wife, mother, and grandmother. She passed away on July 28, 2025, at age 76.

Carolyn was born to Joshie "Bud" and Kathleen "Monk" Wells Davis on November 3, 1948. Carolyn was the baby of three children, adoring her older brothers Dennis and Linnie. After graduating from Rock Ridge High School, she went to IBM school in Roanoke, Virginia for computer programming. Carolyn returned to Wilson, North Carolina and began to work at BB&T. She left BB&T and went to the City of Wilson and retired from the City of Wilson after thirty-four years.

Carolyn enjoyed being a mother and treasured her sons, Timothy "Tim" and Cameron "Cam" Gowen. When Tim went into the Army, she faithfully stayed tuned and sent letters and videos. She often referred to Cameron as her "baby" even after he was grown and towered above her. Carolyn was supportive of their endeavors attending ball games, band concerts, and programs throughout their childhood and remained a beacon to come home to whenever they needed her. Carolyn was more than a mother-in-law to Crystal. She was a confidant, source of love, and spirituality nurturing her as one of her own.

Carolyn and Randy Bunn were long-time acquaintances and in 1999 they started courting. They wed November 2, 2002, and were married for twenty-two years. They shared time together playing music, spending time with family, and serving the Lord. Randy spent the last years devoted to Carolyn's care, ensuring his fulfillment of his vows of sickness and health.

Carolyn enjoyed being a grandmother instilling Christian values and encouraging their participation in church, such as Awanas as she helped with church activities when they were younger. Carolyn encouraged her grandchildren Nickolas, Gracie, Ashleigh, and Riley to do their best in whatever they did. Just like her sons, she attended games, programs, concerts, baptisms, and when she couldn't attend, she wanted to hear all about it. Carolyn was always proud of their accomplishments from Nick's enlistment and service in the United States Air Force, his wedding to Kristin Currie Gowen, to Ashleigh's graduation from high school to Riley's admission to culinary school, and Gracie's involvement in Future Farmers of America. Her spirit will be forever enamored in their hearts and memories.

Carolyn loved people. She never met a stranger and embraced everyone she met. As she met people, she told them about her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Carolyn loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Carolyn enjoyed playing her washtub bass with her husband, Randy, strumming "Boogie Woogie" and other tunes for crowds to enjoy. Carolyn loved to laugh, and her laugh was infectious to others. She loved to joke and "cut-up". Carolyn loved animals, especially her dogs, Abby and Goldie, who were constantly by her side.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Randy Bunn, of Wilson; her son, Cameron Gowen and wife Crystal Gowen of Wilson; stepson, Brooks Bunn and wife, Renee of Sims; her beloved grandsons, Nickolas Gowen and wife, Kristin Gowen of Havelock, North Carolina, Riley Tulppo of Wilson, and step grandson, Coleman Bunn of Sims, and precious granddaughters, Gracie Gowen and Ashleigh Carico of Wilson, and step granddaughter, Elle Bunn of Sims, North Carolina, and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

The family would like to extend special recognition to Gentiva Hospice of Wilson, specifically her nurse, Ann Durham, and other members of the hospice team, Rhonda Karwick, Mary Frieson, Laura Harris, Jonathan Knox, and Derek Bossolono for the dedication, care, and compassion in caring for Carolyn and supporting the family.

She is preceded in death by her son, Timothy Lee Gowen, parents Joshie "Bud" Davis and Kathleen "Monk" Wells Davis, and brothers Linwood "Linnie" and Dennis Davis.
