Charles Ralph Lucas, 75 of Wilson passed away Saturday.  Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson.  Pastor Elwood Long will officiate. The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home. Charles was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord who attended Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church since 1970.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to all that knew him.  Charles was a retired farmer, who was a man of impeccable work ethic, integrity, honor, courage, loyalty and perseverance.  He served his country that he loved with honor for nine years in the National Guard.  Charles greatest passions were spending time attending his grandchildren’s various sporting events and watching them catch catfish.  Additional passions included watching fireworks, hog killings, hunting and fishing, trapping and watching things grow, gardening, farming and raising farm animals, Prime Timers Bus Trips, classic cars, especially his 1968 Mustang along with NASCAR and their drivers, Mark Martin and Carl Edwards.  Charles was one of the most self-less persons you would ever meet and he possessed a great sense of humor and that constantly had those in his presence in deep laughter.  Charles was loved by all that knew him and he will be dearly missed and thought of often with wonderful memories that will bring smiles and joy to those that loved him. Charles is survived by his wife, Shelby Brantley Lucas of the home; his daughters, Cindy Williford and husband, Ray of Wilson, Connie Lucas of Wilson and Cathy Rose of Durham his sons, Terry Lewis and wife, Lesa of Bermuda Run and Brad Lucas and wife, Denny (Shadow)  of Wilson; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and his sister, Annette Goff of Wilson. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Lewis; parents, Purvis Lucas and Adell Thorne Lucas and his brothers, Junior Lucas and Tom Lucas.
