Charles Smith Pearson, Sr.

Charles Smith Pearson, Sr., 96 of Wilson, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, July 18, 2025.

Family was extremely important to him, and always made time to spend with them. He received his Eagle Scout distinction on November 19, 1943, and was really proud of that accomplishment. Work was his life otherwise, and retired at 92 years old from EMCO Wheaton as a Co-Owner.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 22nd from 10:30am until 12:00pm at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Pkwy, Wilson, NC 27896. A graveside service will follow at 1:00pm at Rocky Mount Memorial Park, 4454 Dortches Blvd, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.

Mr. Pearson is survived by his wife of seventy-two years, Lillian Lassetter Pearson; son, Charles S. “Chuck” Pearson, Jr., and his wife Dawn Berberich Pearson, of Mechanicsville, VA; daughter, Nancy Pearson Yeaman, and her husband Herb, of Edenton, NC; grandchildren, Whitney Nicole Waitman and her husband Jeremy, Charles Dylan Pearson and his wife Jessica, Mary Whitner Lee and her husband Bo, and Nancy Ruth Whitner; and six great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Pearson Whitner; and his parents, George “Willy” & Sue “Susie” Pearson.
