Clara Jean Batchelor

Clara Jean Batchelor passed away on January 8, 2023 with her daughter and son holding hands.  A joint service will be held for Clara and Art who passed on December 17, 2022 on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson.

The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 1 – 1:45 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.  

Jean was proceeded in death by 21 days of her loving husband, Jefferson Arthur Batchelor. 

She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda B. Shore and husband, Larry of Wilson;  granddaughter, Kelly Jones of Wilmington; her son, Arthur Ray Batchelor and beloved wife, Deborah of Wilson; grandson, Jeffery Batchelor; beloved granddaughter, Heather Mitchell and husband, Dallas of Tarboro; her great grandchildren, Tyler Mitchell, Sammantha Batchelor, Richard McNamara all of Wilson, and Lyla Thiel and Hallie Thiel of Mechanicsville, Virginia, her great-great-grandson, Jasper Holloman. Her sisters, Faye Owens and beloved husband, Raymond of Belmont West Virginia, Dorothy Braswell and husband, Billy of Emerald Isle, Linda Macaluso of Wilson, Pat Grimes and husband, Ricky of Wilson. Jean has a loving extended family of many who cherished her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, James Taft Barnes and Fannie Mae Barnes; beloved brothers, Roland Barnes of Wilson and Tommy Barnes of West Virginia.

Jean worked as bookkeeper for Art’s Auto Service alongside her husband and later Art’s Auto & Radiator Service alongside her husband and son.  She loved it and kept everything very organized for many years. Jean and her husband attended Victory Freewill Baptist Church, Pastor Wayne Whitley for many years.  They both loved their church family!
