Danny McCoy Eatmon

Danny McCoy Eatmon, 79, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023.  A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 23 at 7:00pm at Joyner’s Funeral Home in Wilson, NC with Pastor Michael Coppock officiating. The family will receive family and friends prior to the service from 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, and at other times at the family home.

He was born August 13, 1943, in Nash County to the late Carmon Pearson Eatmon and Libbie Ferrell Eatmon. He graduated from Bailey High School in Bailey, NC. Following service in the US Army, he worked with the Raleigh Fire Department, retiring in 1996 at the rank of Captain. Danny also served for a period as a Deputy US Marshal. While his health permitted, he enjoyed gardening, rebuilding children’s toy pedal tractors, and taking road trips across the country. He was proud of having visited all 50 states and loved exploring off the beaten path. 

He is survived by his wife Vanice, of 55 years, of the home; son, Michael (Erin) of Rancho Palos Verdes, California; and son, David of Apex; grandchildren, Danny and Ellie; brothers, Jay and David; sister, Judy; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, and his dog, Rambler. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Melba.
