Della Faye Haeflinger March 25, 1947 – February 4, 2021 Della Faye Phillips Haeflinger, 73, of Lucama, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and loved ones Thursday, February 4, 2021. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. The Rev. Clifford B. Harwood, Jr. will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon immediately following the service til 3 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Contributions for Pennies from Angels may be made during her Celebration of Life Service, if you desire. Della was a thirty-two-year continuous member with The American Legion Auxiliary and active with Unit #13 in Wilson. She was also a Life Member with The Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary - National organization. Surviving is her husband of forty-three years, Clarence L. Haeflinger; one daughter, Donna L. Woodward (Leonard H-Len) of McKinney, Texas; two sons, Howard Kostelecky, Jr. (Susan), of Kenly and Daniel L. Kostelecky, Sr. and fiancée, (Terry) of Fremont; two sisters, Clara Mae Scales of LaPorte, Indiana and Carol Ann Gray of Cornith, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Nathan L., Noah D, and Naomi F. Woodward, Phillip J. Kostelecky, Daniel L. Kostelecky, Jr. and Katie L. Kostelecky and two great grandchildren, Avery S. Woodward and Braylen J. Woodward. She was preceded in death by her parents, Maynard, and Louise Phillips; sister, Mary F. Phillips, and two brother-in-laws, Daniel D. Scales and Lloyd P. Gray. Special thanks go to 3HC Hospice of Wilson for the excellent care she received at home during these last four months from aides and nurses with daily visits from many others assisting with her care. After her almost failed surgery and brush with death in 2009 Della always wore an Angel Pin on her shoulder and became a long-time supporter of the cancer support group charity “Pennies from Angels”. Memorials in Della’s honor can be directed to The American Legion Auxiliary - Unit #13, P. O. Box 3065, Wilson, North Carolina 27895.
