Della-Sue Riggs Cannon

Della Sue Riggs Cannon, born February 14, 1944, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, November 19, 2025.

She was an amazing mother, dedicated servant of God, devoted friend, a light to all who knew her, and one tough cookie.

Della Sue is survived by her loving son Jeffrey Bryan Cannon Sr. and daughter in law Irene; devoted daughter Jennifer Helene Ballard and son in law Wesley; two grandchildren Jeffrey Bryan Cannon Jr. and wife Lauren and April Nicole Cannon; and one great-grandson Riley Jordan Cannon. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother Lyla Helen Davis Riggs and father William Henry Riggs, her favorite brother William Dennis Riggs, Albert Nash Riggs, and dear sister-in-law Jeanie Cando Riggs. She loved her family very much- nieces, nephews, cousins, and all her in-laws.

Her love of numbers and strong work ethic made her a valued employee of Mills and Thomas Furniture, First Citizens Bank, Bender School Supply, Bender Burkot School Supply and Eastern Carolina internal Medicine. Mom's love of Jesus and others shined through in everything she did, most notably as the founding member of the Seasoned Saints ministry at Peace Church which is still flourishing today and as a long-term member of the Berean Sunday School Class. She gave of herself freely and always with a smile.

The memorial service was held at Peace Church, 2838 Tilghman Road, Wilson, NC on Saturday, November 22nd at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Dr. Roger "Rusty" Russell. Family and friends are invited to an additional memorial service at the Lee's Chapel United Methodist Church, Hwy 17, Pollocksville, NC on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 2:00pm. Her interment will take place at a later date due to the forecasted weather conditions.

In lieu of food for family, please donate to the Veteran Residential Services food bank, both of Wilson.
