Donald Leon Hargett

Donald Leon Hargett, 89, of Sims passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026. A celebration of life will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Bailey Methodist Church, 12437 Green Street, Bailey. Rev. Coppick will officiate.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 – 11:45 a.m. at Bailey Methodist Church, Bailey.

Donald was a member of Bailey Methodist Church, where he served his LORD faithfully. He sang in the choir at First Presbyterian Church in Monroe. He sang with his choir at Westminster Abbey Church in London, England. They also sang in churches in Germany, Austria, France, Scotland and Ireland. Donald served as a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Monroe. Donald was an Eagle Scout, and District President and Governor of the Moose Lodge in Monroe. He loved fishing, music, history, computers, and working on crossword puzzles.

Donald is survived by his wife of seventy years, Jimmie Hargett; daughters, Karen Pittman and husband, Bobby, and Deborah Hargett; granddaughter, Jami Mooring and husband, Ken and Krystal Grier; grandsons, David Pittman and wife, Sarah, and Jonathan Pittman and wife, Laura; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann Canupp and husband, Bill and Janice Hargett and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Hargett; parents, Walter and Maud Hargett, and his brother, Norris Hargett.
