Fannie Hiawatha Short

Fannie Hiawatha Bunn Short of Wilson, went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2026, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was 101 years old.

The family will receive friends for a Memorial Service on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 11 am to 1 pm at Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Inurnment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, 400 College Road, Wilson.

She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in New Bern.

Hiawatha and her husband Norman owned Shorts Sew & Vac in Wilson. She was a seamstress for many, including weddings, patches for motorcycle groups, and clothing for her daughters. She was the bookkeeper for the business. She was a caring mother to both of her daughters, as well as many of their friends. She was known as Aunt Pug to her nieces and nephews. She was very loved by all.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Norman Short, and grandson, Jami Davis.

She is survived by her daughters, June Reigle and husband, John, and Kim Short; grandchildren, Billy Davis, Casey Kelley, Alexandria Mackenzie (Kat) Kelley, Ashley Robson, Jessica Robson, Randy Reigle, honorary grandchild and many great grandchildren.
