September 9, 1938 – June 8, 2023

Fayette Smith Bowman, 84, of Wilson passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:15 pm, Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson, NC.  A funeral service will be Saturday, June 10^th in the chapel at Joyner’s Funeral Home at 2:30 pm.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson.  The Reverend Mike Safley will officiate.

Fayette served faithfully in a ministerial role with her husband for 38 years.  She enjoyed baking, gardening, birdwatching, singing and painting.  The greatest joy of her life was spending time with her family, whom she loved greatly. 

Fayette is survived by her four children, daughters, Gail Mahan (Mike) of Wilson and Rhonda Hanssen (Rich) of Tanzania, Africa; sons, Wally Bowman (Karen) of Zebulon and Marty Bowman (Cindy) of Cape Carteret; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Rev. John Martin Bowman; parents, Daniel and Hattie Whittaker Smith and grandson John Brock.
