Freddie Johnson Vinson

Freddie Johnson Vinson September 1, 1924 – July 15, 2021 Ms. Freddie, as all her many friends and family loved to call her had an infectious laugh, beautiful smile and a wonderful sense of humor has gone to be with her Lord and Savior. She had been a faithful servant of God and a beacon of love and hope to all who knew her. Born September 1, 1924, in Georgetown, South Carolina to Fred and Laurine Johnson, she was one of four girls, Mildred Poston, Hazel Moore, and Freda Hayes all who have preceded her in death. Ms. Freddie graduated from Black Creek High School. In 1944 she met and married the love of her life, Charles Vinson in Dillion, South Carolina. To this union was born two sons. Charles and Ms. Freddie were married for fifty-eight years, and together they loved traveling, especially to the Holy Land, as well as fishing, gardening, and reading. Ms. Freddie loved her church and church friends. She was especially fond of all the Pastors at Raleigh Road Baptist Church including Pastor Eddie, Greg, Rob, although he never took her for a spin on his motorcycle, Pastor Joe, Tyler, Bill, and Kelley. Ms. Freddie wanted to acknowledge a very special friend, Jeff Thomas, who Ms. Freddie and Charles met when he was just eight years old at the Middlesex Children’s Home. Jeff and Jenny Thomas became very special friends and she wanted them to know how much their friendship had meant to her. Ms. Freddie is survived by her son, Ritchie Vinson and wife, Janine of Madison, Alabama, and Marty Vinson and wife, Gloria of Bailey; three grandchildren, Nikol Vinson of Madison, Peter of Fredericksburg, Texas, and Morgan Donham of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and seven great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. Condolences directed to Joyner’s Funeral Home and Crematory at www.joyners.net.
