Wayne loved the Lord, loved his wife, family and life itself. One of his favorite things to do was to tell a good story and he lived a life worth telling; from being a rascal teenager who shelled butter beans, to pass senior English, to serving in Vietnam, traveling with the Army Rifle Team, to marrying his love, floating down the Chattahoochee, raising his family and teaching them to love the outdoors and one another. He enjoyed being a granddaddy and spoiling them with all the sweet treats when granny wasn’t looking. Wayne always found happiness in everything and everyone he encountered. He truly loved everyone he met. While he may not be with us anymore, his lessons and legacy live on in our hearts and minds.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Wanda Stancil; daughter, Samara Batts and husband, Drew; son, Joshua Wayne Stancil and wife, Candice and his grandchildren, Gabriel, Elijah, Lily, Kiley, Maya and Zoey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruby Stancil, and his brother, Daron Stancil.
In lieu of flowers, consider memorials in Wayne’s memory to the Veterans Residential Service, 2500 Nash Street, Suite E, Wilson, North Carolina 27896.
Condolences directed to Joyner’s Funeral Home and Crematory at www.joyners.net.
