Grady "Tuffy" Lee Barnes, Jr.

Grady “Tuffy” Lee Barnes, Jr., 82 of Wilson passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2026. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson.

The family will receive friends and relatives Saturday evening, July 18, 2026, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

Tuffy is survived by his wife of thirty-one years, Jacquelyn “Jackie” Barnes; daughter, Leigh Beaver and husband, Kevin; step-daughter, Gina Childress and husband, Todd; sons, Allen Barnes and wife, Jeanne, Grady Barnes, III (Trey) and fiancé, Kim; grandchildren, Lauren, Brandon, Bryan, Cory, Seth, Ryan, Lia, Ryder, Tristan, Madison, Anna, Brad, and Jordan; seventeen great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; his siblings, Melda Jean Barnes Turner and husband, Jimmy, Sydney Barnes Young and husband, Gilbert, Wendy Barnes Allen Tolbert and husband, Randy, and Cathy Barnes Black and husband, Frank; the mothers of his children, Mary Jeanette Bryant and Dianne Whitley Barnes and his closest friend for seventy-five years, Joe Barkley "Uncle Joe".

He was preceded in death by his sons, Cleveland Thomas Barnes and Brent McAllister; step-son, Jack Bradley; parents, Grady, Sr. and Della Barnes and his brother, Rusty Barnes.
