Guy Vaden Stott, 88, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 5, 2024 surrounded by his family at Wilson Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 10 at 2:00 pm at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.   Family will receive family and friends at 12:30 PM prior to the service and other times at the home.  Reverends Doug Skinner and David List will officiate.

Guy is survived by his wife, Joyce G. Stott of Wilson, 3 children, Lisa Stott Gammon (Ronnie) of Burlington, NC, Sharon Stott Walker (Tim) of Wake Forest, NC and Michael Kevin Stott (Sherry) of Stacy, NC.  He is also survived by two stepdaughters, Lynn Johnson (Sherrod) and Marcia White, and one brother-in-law Earl Wilson. Guy had 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 3 nieces, 1 nephew, and many step grandchildren and great grandchildren, who meant so much to him.

Born in Wilson County on January 27, 1935, Guy was the son of the late Guy F. Stott and Gertrude F. Stott.   He graduated from Charles L. Coon High School in Wilson and attended Hardbarger Business School in Raleigh.  In 1954 he joined the United States Navy and spent 4 years in service.  In 1955 he married the love of his life Jean Wilson Stott, and they were married for 58 years when Jean passed away. Guy had a career at Belk Tyler’s in Wilson and Belk Leggett in Durham for over 30 years and finished his career at North Carolina Mutual Wholesale Drug in Durham in 2000.

Guy and Jean attended First Free Will Baptist Church in Wilson for many years until moving to Durham in 1973 where they joined Sherron Acres Free Will Baptist Church.  There he served as a Deacon and was very involved in the church’s music ministry.

Guy was a member of the Jaycees while living in Wilson. In Durham, he was a member of Gideons International which involved the distribution of bibles and spreading of God’s word.

After Jean’s death in 2014, Guy married Joyce G. Stott of Wilson and they lived their best life until his passing.  Guy and Joyce enjoyed traveling and spending time with each other and had most recently attended Impact Church of Wilson.

Guy is preceded in death by his parents, Guy F. Stott and Gertrude F. Stott, loving wife, Jean W. Stott and brother, Rupert Stott.
