Henry Lewis Lamm passed away Saturday, April 25, 2026, at his home at the age of 75. Lewis was born on April 24, 1951. He grew up on the family farm in Lucama, with a large family of 8 siblings, Janice, James, Billy, Carolyn, Dianne, Brenda and Sue.
Preceding Lewis’s death was a sister, Eunice Faye, father; James Henry Lamm, and mother; Marie Thigpen Lamm.
Lewis graduated from Lucama High School. Afterwards he graduated from North Carolina Wesleyan College with a degree in criminology. Lewis thought he wanted to be a CIA agent, but one trip to Langley changed his mind. He returned to Lucama and continued the family tradition of farming the Lamm Century farm. Lewis later became half-owner of Maude’s Flower Shop. He had a natural talent for creating beautiful arrangements for a wedding, funeral, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day. He could make any occasion special.
Lewis’ greatest love was his family. He loved the Easters and the family campouts in the fall with his numerous nieces and nephews. He loved the farm, loved getting his hands dirty, loved seeing plants emerging from the soil. He loved working and learning from his mother and father during these years. He loved to hunt and fish and to be out in the woods camping with his best friend, Gerald.
Lewis loved the freedom of the great outdoors. As his body started to decline, and when it was difficult to walk, he still drove to the farm looking at the crops. He loved to see the animals and was especially thrilled if he saw a deer or a turkey along the way. Lewis is home now on the farm he loved.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2026, in the Solomon Lamm Family Cemetery, St. Mary’s Church Road, Lucama.
