Herbert Cornelius Jones, 87, known to his friends as “Candy” of Wilson passed away Monday. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Evergreen Memorial Park, 2800 Nash Street N, Wilson. Rev. Bobby Heath will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Herb was the former owner and operator of Rural Sanitation and Wilson Ice and Coal Company. He was an avid golfer, talented builder, and tremendous ECU football fan and supporter.
Herb is survived by his son, Gregory Lee Jones of Raleigh, and his long-time girlfriend, Lou Vick of Wilson. Herb also had an extended family who loved him very much.
The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Wilson Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Wilson for the care and support they provided Herb and to Amanda Cullifer for the love and special care she provided.
