James Edward -Ed- Stallings

James Edward -Ed- Stallings, 92, of Middlesex, passed away Monday.-Funeral services will be conducted 6:30 p.m. Friday at Joyner-s Funeral Home, Wilson.-Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Lee-s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.-The Rev. Kenneth Benton and Rev. Jack Bryant will officiate.
The family will receive friends immediately following Friday-s service at Joyner-s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home.
After participating in the occupation of Japan as a Corporal in the Army, Ed joined his brother Oris as partners in Stallings Brothers Oil Company in 1946 and served the Middlesex Community for over 50 years.-He helped in forming the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department, was on the loan committee for the local bank, and was a member of multiple civic organizations.-As a deacon in his home church, Lee-s Chapel Baptist, Ed welcomed all comers to Sunday morning services for over five decades.
Ed is survived by; his son, Dwain Edward Stallings of Middlesex, his granddaughter, Amy Marie Young and husband, Jonathan of Fuquay -Varina; his grandson, Kevin Wayne Harp of Baltimore, MD; his great-granddaughter, Hailey Ava Young of Fuquay-Varina; his great-grandson, Noah James Young of Fuquay-Varina and his sisters, Rachel Coates of Middlesex, Penn Heywood of Asheville and Jo Maxon of Chocowinity.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Spain Stallings; parents, James Noah Stalling and Eva Driver Stallings; his sisters, Ruby McKenzie and Cora Stallings and his brother, Oris Stallings.
