James Bernice Edwards April 23, 1941 – March 20, 2021 James “Jimmy” Bernice Edwards, 79 of Wilson passed away Saturday. His funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Forest Hills Baptist Church, 1407 Forest Hills Road NW, Wilson. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. The Rev. Mark Harrell and Rev. Ray Barnhill will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Jimmy was a retired Deputy Fire Marshall with Wilson County. He graduated from Wilson Community College with a associates degree in Fire Protection Technology. Jimmy was a member of the American Legion Chapter 13 and a past deacon with the Forest Hills Baptist Church and he was a part-time tour bus driver. Jimmy was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and a friend to all that knew him. He will be greatly missed by many. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Betty “Baye” Inez Lamm Edwards; son, James Bryan Edward of Wilson; sister, Alice Jane Edwards of Wake Forest; sister-in-law, Brenda Lamm Holloman of Pikeville; nephews, William Jeremy Edwards of Wilmington, Michael Smith, and Wayne Smith both of Pikeville; several great nephews and nieces including his special great niece, Brynnlee Creech, and his loving fur babies, Bentley and Abagail. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Bernice and Virginia Agnew Edwards; brother, William “Bill” Howard Edwards and his special aunt, Mary Howard Agnew.
