James Franklin Johnson

 James Franklin Johnson, 78, of Wilson, passed away Thursday. A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Elmwood Cemetery, 303 E. North Street, Fremont. Rev. Rusty Russell will officiate. 

The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

James is survived by his sons, James “Jim Bo” Johnson, Jr. and wife Kenda of Wilson, Danny Johnson and wife, Bridget of Smithfield; daughter, Dawn Miles and husband Andy of Wilson; brother, Doug Johnson and wife, Ellen of Wilson; grandsons, Jordan Johnson and wife, Brianna of Wilson, Ty Johnson of Wilson, Chase Johnson of Smithfield; granddaughters, Paisley Johnson of Smithfield, Kaitlin Miles of Wilson, Emily Miles of Wilson and great grandson, Parker Johnson of Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Janet Lewis Johnson of the home; parents, James Henry Johnson and Annie Mae Batts; sisters, Loretta Hurley, Ila Gardner and Janet Lamm.

In lieu of flowers, the family request consideration of donations in James’s name to Meals on Wheels, 2101 Tarboro Street W., Suite C, Wilson, North Carolina, 27893.
