Jay Van Harper

Jay Van Harper, 77, of Wilson passed away Saturday, August 8, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 10 – 10:45 a.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

For fifty-five years, Jay was a Certified Public Accountant. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Jay was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and a friend to all who knew him and his memory will forever be in their heart.

Jay is survived by his wonderful wife and friend, Dorothy Harper; sons, Chris Harper and wife, Doris and Daniel Harper and wife, Lynn; granddaughter, Cora Harper; great-grandson, Malachi Keen; sister, Emma Jean Cooper and husband, Gary and his brother, Bill Harper and wife, Amy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, W.J. and Florine Harper.
