Jean Barnes Simpson

Jean Simpson, 95, of Lucama, passed away Tuesday.  Funeral Services will be held at

11 am Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.  The Rev. Jerry Andrews will officiate.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:30 – 10:45 am prior to the funeral service.

Jean is survived by her children; sons, Vollis Michael Simpson and wife Brenda, Leonard Barnes Simpson and wife Pam, daughter, Carol Simpson Kyles and husband Jay: her grandchildren Allison Shoupe (Caleb), Valerie Baker, Jamison Kyles, and Cassidy Kyles, special grand pups: Abbie, Sam, Duke, Gibby and special memories of her dear sweet Charlie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vollis Simpson, her daughter Jeannie Lee Simpson, her parents, Leonard Cecil Barnes and Addie Lee Boykin Barnes: her sisters, Doris Lee Barnes, Sarah Tomlinson, Carolyn Bissette, and brother, Howard Cecil Barnes.

In addition, she cherished all of her relatives: nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends throughout the years.
