Jerry Lee Bissette, 76 of Sims, passed away Friday, February 27, 2026.
Jerry Lee was known as a jack of all trades, who always said “he did it my way”, and has never met a stranger. He loved to farm, and was known as “Farm Boy” during his trucking days. Jerry Lee loved his wife, family, and friends. He worked at Sharp Farms for over ten years, and considered everyone he worked with as his second family.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm on Wednesday, March 4th, at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Pkwy, Wilson, with Rev. Ray Wells officiating. The family will receive friends, following the service, until 8:00pm.

Jerry Lee is survived by his wife, Alice Bissette; daughters, Michelle Miller (Jimmy) and Tonya Thorne (Merle); grandchildren, Hunter Thorne (Courtney), Alex Miller (Baylee), Kristin Miller, Kelsey Miller, and Ally Thorne (Cody); great-grandchildren, Carsyn Thorne and Madisyn Thorne; sisters, Judith Bankston (Jim) and Patricia Bissette; brother, Ricky Manning; several nieces and nephews; and caretaker, Mary Hamm.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Leona Bissette; sister, Agnes Lamm; and the family pet, Pedro.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the care team at Gentiva Hospice.
