Jesse Dorman James August 3, 1941 – November 20, 2020 Jesse Dorman James, 79 of Wilson passed away peacefully at home on November 20, 2020 and is now dwelling in the house of Our Lord Jesus Christ. His funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Rev. Rusty Russell will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday morning from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Jesse was a devoted member of Peace Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served his country with honor and pride. He was a jack of all trades, working most of his life with heavy equipment traveling from Washington, DC throughout North Carolina. His crowning achievement was helping excavate the basement of the FBI building. Jesse also had a myriad of other careers ranging from taxi driver, long distance truck driver to a Wilson County Deputy to Wilson County Rescue and EMS. Jesse enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife, Edna and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Jesse is survived by his wife, Edna Poythress James; daughters, Robin James Cuddington and husband, Tommy and Sandy James Hawley and husband, Dennis; step-son, Eric Brian Radke; grandchildren, Kelley Starr and husband, Kasey, Shannon Suddreth and husband, Zack, Tyler Hawley and wife, Liz, Brian Radke and wife, Summer, Brittany Hawley and service dog, GRIFFIN; great-grandchildren, Nathan Meyers, Grethen Starr and Charlotte Suddreth and his nephew, Jesse R. James and wife, Cindy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Vina Mae Casey James; sister, Hazel Manning and his brothers, Donald James, Leonard James, and J.C. Lilly.
