Jessie Bailey Amerson

Jessie Bailey Amerson, age 88, ended her earthly journey peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 25, 2022. She was born on December 16, 1933 in Johnston County, to the late Chester and Annie Mae Bailey.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Sam Amerson in 2009 and sister, Esther “Skeeter” Davis.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Sammy Amerson and wife, Carol, Jerry Amerson and wife, Paula, and Mark Amerson and wife, Robin; grandchildren, Asheton Amerson wife, Tracey, Michaellynn Hughes and husband, Bryan, Heather Williams and husband, Robert, Brandon Amerson and girlfriend, Paige, Courtney Proctor and husband, John; greatgrandchildren, Bailey, Tucker, and Blake Amerson, Bryce, Brant, and Melia Hughes, Blake, Tyler, Layne Williams, and Chase Proctor; brother, Mitchell Bailey and wife, Sylvia, brother in-law, Lesly Davis, nephews and a niece; lifelong friends, Ruth-Ann “Lucy” Horton and June Pitt, and many cherished members of Peace Church of Wilson.

Her greatest love was her Lord and she shared the love she had with Him with her children, grandchildren, and others. She was a long-standing member of Peace Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and gave faithfully to missions. Jessie worked many years and retired as an associate with Colonial Stores, Big Star, and A & P.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson.  Rev. Tony Sebastian will officiate.  Private burial for the family.

Visitation will be held Tuesday morning from 10 – 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
