Jimmie Allen Davis

Jimmie Allen Davis, 83, of Elm City, passed away at home on September 9, 2026.

Jimmie was born January 17, 1943, in Wilson County, North Carolina, to the late Thomas Edward Davis and Mae Crane Bunn. Over the years he called Wilson County, Greenville, Farmville, Sims, and finally Elm City home.

On April 20, 1963, he married Linda Faye Johnson, and together they raised two children. Linda preceded him in death in June 2003. He later married Ann Jones in 2007, who also preceded him in death in June 2022.

Jimmie started out in the cotton and tobacco fields as a sharecropper's son. He attended Rock Ridge High School, leaving to take a job with the NC Department of Transportation. He would soon move on to work over 35 years at Roadway Express as a truck driver and respected Teamsters union representative among his fellow drivers.

His maternal grandfather, Alfred Monroe Bunn, taught Jimmie to appreciate the outdoors. Jimmie enjoyed quail hunting as a young man and saltwater fishing throughout his life. He kept a vegetable garden every year, had a lifelong love of classic cars and trucks, and made sure bluegrass music was always close at hand.

Jimmie played baseball for Kenly in his younger years as a pitcher and first baseman. A couple of decades later, he found joy coaching Little League in Farmville, winning multiple championships across age divisions and coaching several Little League All-Star teams. More recently he came to love exploring family history and reading the Bible.

He is survived by his children, Ginger Renee Davis and Rocky Allan Davis; stepson Kevin Patrick Jones; grandchildren Eden Minh Vu, Brady Davis, Carrigan Davis, Holden Davis, and Emmett Davis; step-grandchildren Brooke Whitley, Luke Jones, and Faith Jones; and his siblings Joan Lucas, Linda Wright, Tom Davis, and Richard Davis.

Visitation with the family starts at 2 pm Crosspointe Baptist Church on Sunday, September 13th, at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to Crosspointe Baptist Church.
