Jimmy Garris

Jimmy “Possum” Garris, 62, of Elm City passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 8, 2025. A gathering of friends and family will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

Jimmy worked at Performance Heating and Cooling for the past ten years. Jimmy loved hunting, fishing, grilling and spending time at the beach. He had many lifelong friends and was loved by everyone who knew him.

Jimmy is survived by his sons, Austin Garris and wife, Caitlin of Elm City and Dylan Garris of Wilson; grandchildren, Oliver Garris, Addie Jo Garris and Emerson Garris; life partner, Tamsey Ezzell of the home; sisters, Betty Edwards and Rosa Bunn both of Lucama, and his brothers, Earl Garris of Wilson and Bill Garris of Black Creek.
