Jimmy Thomas Godwin, Sr. December 4, 1946 – September 27, 2021 Jimmy Thomas Godwin, Sr., 74 of Middlesex passed away Monday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment to follow in Bailey Town Cemetery, Bailey. The Rev. Thomas Newcomb will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Jimmy is survived by his fiancé, Ann Bridgers; daughters, Cynthia Mayo, Sherry Watkins and husband, Chris, and Cathy Odwyer and fiancé, Curtis Grady; granddaughters, Jennifer Mayo and fiancé, Stephen, Jessica Griffin and husband, Daniel, Nola Ventura and Carrie Joyce Watkins; grandsons, Daniel Mayo, Walter Mayo, Troy Mayo, Jimmy Godwin, Jr., and wife, Amber, and Christian Watkins and wife, Chloe; fourteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Lynn Wylie Gurkin, and Rhonda Mosley and husband, Rob; brother, Bobby Godwin and wife, Paulette; step-brothers, Ray Poole and wife, Bobbie, and Tharon Poole, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Bryant Godwin; parents, Moses Henry Godwin and Edna Boykin Hinnant and his son-in-law, Daniel Mayo.
