Joan Stancil Thompson

Joan Stancil Thompson, 74, passed away on Saturday, December 23.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 29 at 2:00 pm at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.  Reverend Wayne Whitley will officiate.

Family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service at Joyner’s Funeral Home.

Joan is survived by her son, George A. Thompson, III of Wilmington; brother, Jimmy Stancil and wife, Cathy of Wilson; sister, Marian Lamm of Wilson; nephew, Marshall Bass of Wilson; nieces, Tish Summerlin and husband, Steve of Wilson, Kelly Barnes and husband, Billy of Wilson, and LeeAnn Edwards and husband, Justin of Zebulon; and sister-in-law, Gail Thompson of Goldsboro.

Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband, George A. Thompson, Jr.; son, Alvin Stancil Thompson; brothers, Danny Stancil and Steve Stancil; and parents, James Alvin Stancil and Marian Yarboro Stancil.
