January 30, 1943 – December 11, 2021

Johnny Wayne Batten, 78 of Elm City passed away Saturday. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

Wayne was a graduate from Lucama High School, and he was an electrician that worked with Watson’s Electric for twenty years and Abbott Labs for twenty years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all who knew him. Wayne will be dearly missed.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Pattie Davis Batten; daughter, Sherri Batten Jones and husband, Michael; son, Billy Wayne Batten and wife, Teri; grandchildren, Ryan Jones and wife, Jara, Corey Jones, and Lane Jones; great-grandchildren, Grayson Jones, and Lennon Jones; sisters, Myrtle Baker and husband, Earl, and Mavis Batten, and his brothers, Vernon Batten and wife, Carolyn, and Jimmy Batten.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian and Dollie Batten.
