Joseph Ray Cook

Joseph Ray Cook, 74 of Rocky Mount departed from this life on earth to his heavenly home, to be with Jesus Christ and his loved ones who have gone before him.

Ray was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle, and friend, but most of all a child of God.  He was loved deeply by his family and all that was fortunate to have known him.  He loved to spend time with his family, especially BBQing pigs with his brothers, he loved family reunions, building things with his hands, and going to antique markets with family and Ray was the first-born grandson to the late paternal grandparents, Jasper and Maggie Cook.

Ray is survived by his three sisters, Lou, Patricia, and Gwendolyn and a brother, Charles, along with a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Preceded by his parents, Joseph Delbert and Hattie Mercer Cook, a sister, Vickey Cook, a brother, Ronnie Cook and the late maternal grandparents, W.E. and Victoria Mercer.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 2 p.m.  with the Rev. Lonnie Humphrey officiating where Ray was a member of Saratoga Holiness, Saratoga, North Carolina.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson.
