Laura C. “Pat” Cox, 84, of Wilson passed away Wednesday.  Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.  The Rev. Dr. Doug Murray and the Rev. Steve Clayton will officiate.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, and other times at 103 Dryden Place, Wilson.

Pat was born in Mountaindale, PA and moved to Wilson, North Carolina to open Cox Dodge with her husband, Rocky, in 1970.  Pat enjoyed her life as a homemaker and was an avid volunteer.  She served as a volunteer with Wilson Medical Center, The Clothes Line, and was a founding board member of The Wesley Shelter. She was also a longstanding member of The Order of the Eastern Star.  She attended First Baptist Church, Wilson.  She enjoyed quilting, playing Bridge, and spending time with her family and friends. Pat was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Surviving are her two daughters, Becky Bass and husband, Jeff of Black Creek and Wendy Winslow and husband, David of Wilson; two sons, Brad Cox and wife, Gay of Wilson and Shane Cox of Wilson; nine grandchildren, Matt Cox and wife, Stephanie, Sarah Beth Deans and husband, Lewis, Dustin Cox, Austin Bass, Parker Bass, Logan Bass, Jordan Winslow, Anna Gates Winslow, and John Winslow; three great-grandchildren; and her sister, Mert Apple of Wichita Falls, TX.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Austin E. “Rocky” Cox, in 1982 and her daughter, Melinda Cox in 1962.
