Lauro Antunez October 19, 1959 – April 1, 2021 Lauro Antunez, 61 of Elm City passed away Thursday. His memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Father Phillip Byrum will officiate. Lauro came to the United States in 1988 as an immigrant, was a permanent resident in 1990 and in 2019 Lauro became a US citizen. He worked years in the tobacco and sweet potato industry and for thirteen years he worked with Boone Logging. Lauro loved going to the beach, enjoyed family gatherings and he was always building things for his grandchildren and giving support for son’s soccer games every Sunday. Lauro was a brave, hardworking, and a loving husband, father, and grandfather, he would always put a smile on everyone’s face. He will be truly missed but forever in our hearts. Lauro is survived by his loving wife, Natalia Antunez of Elm City; daughter, Linda Antunez and husband, Jose Espinoza of Elm City; sons, Domingo Antunez and wife, Ashley Hales of Wilson, Elias Antunez and significant other, Claudia Raya of Wilson, and Carmelo Antunez and significant other, Sandra Salinas of Elm City, and his grandchildren, Luis Antunez, Diego Antunez, Ariana Antunez, Dylan Espinoza, Jordi Espinoza, Alexa Espinoza, and Destiny Chavez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rafael Antunez and Guadalupe Millan and his brother, Santiago Antunez. Condolences directed to Joyner’s Funeral Home and Crematory at www.joyners.net.
