Lillian Turnage Best

Lillian Turnage Best, 88, of Wilson passed away Friday, October 2, 2026. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2026, in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. John Turner will officiate.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5 – 6 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

Lillian was a member of Forest Hills Presbyterian Church. She loved gardening, and she showed her love by cooking and baking. Lillian was well known for her cakes and her holiday goodies, which she baked for her loved ones and also sold at the church. Lillian was a wonderful, loving and caring soul that will be missed by all who knew her.

Lillian is survived by her sisters, Sally Wilson and Ruth Turnage; many loving nieces and nephews including John and Lisa Wilson, Jean Brantley, Larry Pittman, and Susie Pittman, and many loving great nieces and nephews including Chad Ellis, Rachel Wilson, Eric Wilson and Kayline Francois.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years who passed in 2020, Donald Best; parents, Willie and Mamie Turnage and seven brothers and six sisters.
