Lillie Mae Woodard, 95 of Wilson passed away Monday, February 16, 2026. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in Evergreen Memorial Park. Major Al Smith will officiate.
Lillie devoted thirty-four years of ministry to as a Salvation Army Officer alongside her late husband, Major Earl Woodard. She was known for her compassionate spirit and caring heart. She loved helping others, tending her garden, and cooking for those she loved. Serving others was not just something she did – it was who she was. Above all, her family was her greatest joy and most precious gift.
Lillie is survived by her daughter, Pam Grimes and husband, Jeff; son, Randy Woodard; granddaughters, Ashley Hurst (Nate), Colby Matthews (Joshua), Jordan Day, and Dana Kellar (Andrews); eight great-grandchildren; sister, Rebecca Murray; several nieces and nephews and many other family members; in-laws and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Major M. Earl Woodard; parents, Edward and Rebecca Newcomb, and her siblings, Joyce Holland, Preston D. Newcomb, J.L. Newcomb, Charles Newcomb, Joseph Newcomb, Lewis Newcomb and Bertha Newcomb.
